Uhmm, no.
I don't know of any totally acoustic bands, but I like most of Steve Vai's acoustic work, in particular, Brandon's Costumes (Gentle Ways). Great acoustic instrumental song.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

Also some Slipknot, Korn, Arch Enemy, Sepultera, Hatebreed, 6 feet under, lamb of God, Shadows Fall,... all really god acoustic

While not an instrumental band, it would be worth your while to check out Jim's Big Ego.
It's simply, fun stuff with some fairly witty lyrics and all of it works in an acoustic format, even if it's not all recorded that way.

no offense but they are not ACOUSTIC bands. They are metal bands or what have you. As I do listen to those bands and like them, there are seldom times that acoustics are tied in with their music. Hopefully you wert'y being a "weisenhimer."
Livlove,Even though they are not instrumental her are a couple good bands: eagles has some goot acoustics hits ie. hotel california, other bands are Firefall, Jim Croce, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartny and Wings, George Harrison, Mama's and the Papa's, Paul Simon, John Denver. That should get you started. If you're a beginner I could tab you up a couple good acoustic melodies that are fun to play that are instrumental. Just e-mail me or send me a pm. Gl.

hmm, yeah... no! I like alot of those bands that you named, but they definately are not acoustic... they are death metal, nu-metal, thrash metal, Hard rock, etc. you better watch it chris! I've seen some replys you've made on other posts, you keep it up and you'll get deleted.

I think that Anal **** would be my favorite acoustic rock group. I further edit this post to learn from Chris' mistake and say that The Gathering used to be a good gothic metal band but they went acoustic. Might like them. Their first CD is metal, but after that I don't know what happened. Of course I prefer their first CD, but if you're asking for acoustic stuff then give their later stuff a looksee. No promises though, I've only heard a few tracks of their later stuff.

I wasn't... I guess I came off as being angry, I'm not, I'm just saying that when I've had questions and people came in with a response like that it usually pisses me off.

Just thought of this... you might want to check out Kaki King's stuff. She does some very inventive acoustic guitar work.
You may also want to check out The Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. They're more on the complicated side of things in terms of composition and they have lyrics on most of their songs (OUTSTANDING lyrics at that), but it's great stuff to listen to.
NOTE: BotAR are hosting their entire EP on their website as they are no longer making the CDs... I highly recommend that anybody here download their stuff and give it a good listen.
