Right now, it has been Aquabats. They are this crazy ska band with the craziest songs. I would relate the lyrics to something that Jolly would write while tripping on shrooms Some of their songs are Powerdered milk man, cat with two heads, and captain hampton and the midget pirates. They are very very good musically too. They have a lot of songs in a minor key, which isn't a very common thing in ska, but the songs still have so much energy to them.

I was always especially fond of I Fell Asleep on My Arm.
(PS: You might want to check out Streetlight Manifesto and The Mad Caddies if you haven't already.)

WOW!!
I'm so glad that hooked on phonics didn't work for me and I didn't see the "METAL" band part!
That song is great Raskolnikov. My favorite is Cat With Two Heads because there is a sweet bari sax part and solo, and I used to play the bari sax....back in HS band when I could borrow the instruments for free......I really miss that!! Almost makes me wish I would have flunked and been a "super" senior.
Both those bands are great!! thanks....Along with Catch 22!

A couple bands linger for me. As far as solid death metal goes, I'm all for Cryptopsy any time any where. Especially the notorious None So Vile. Opeth is also one of my favorites particularly for how much is put into each song and how well it's pieced together. For similar reasons Therion has become among my favorites. Mainly because one man composes music for a good 170+ different musicians and singers. That's a lot to work out. If we're speaking solely in metal then that'll shorten the list a tad. Necrophagist has been earning respect and I appreciate whomever it was that recommended them to me. Very good stuff. As far as black metal goes, Immortal and Emperor are definitely up there. Power metal, Stratovarius, Iced Earth and Blind Guardian all rank highest. But I'm really usually not too particular. Of course the above names are always welcome in my CD wallet. Fun fact though, out of every death metal band I have heard, I can count the ones I don't like on one hand and I don't need all 5 fingers... and I've heard a lot of death metal bands mind you.

Whatever you do, don't eat limes. A friend of mine ate a lime once and BAM!! Two years later. Herpes.

Well since this thread is supposed to bo about yout favorite metal band.....
I really don't listen to metal that much. Not that I having anything against it though. I'll listen to everything, even country, I just have been really digging the super high energy in ska.
With that said, I'd say Kitty is pretty cool, mostly cuz thats the only metal I have downloaded. I have recently (past year or so) come out of a wicked bad depression lasting about 10 years, and ska has really been doing the trick in the music department.

Lawrdy, do yourself a HUGE favor and check out The Gits, Bottom, and 7 Year B*tch. The first eight bars of "24,900 Miles Per Hour" have more intensity than Kitty's whole cataloge put together.
That said, my favorite band in Metal right now is Scissorfight, Maiden or Children of Bodom (depending on when you catch me).
PONY: Blink 182 and Tha Alkaholics were on the tour as well... Blink was touring in support of Dude Ranch back then and still worth listening to. Tha Alkaholics on hte other hand were easily some of the worst Hip Hop I've ever heard in my life.

Sno Core Tour, winter of 97/98.
If you time it better than I did, you'd get the Long Beach Dub Allstars rather than Tha Alkaholiks; I'm not a huge fan of that crew without Bradly, but it's a lot better than sub-par Rap.
After you catch that one, pick me up so I can see Primus touring with Morphine. I have a bootleg of Dana Colley playing a Sax solo in the middle of Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers. It had to have been an outstanding show.

Well sence my uncanny ability to not be able to read has brought this thread from metal to ska....what's a little farther?
If you like rap, not the new crap that only talks about drugs, money, and a certain garden tool, check out Swollen Members, Moka Only, and Abstract Rude Prevail. Good stuff that is real deep!
Explosions in the Sky is a very mellow band that plays instrumentals. They did most, if not all, of the soundtrack for the movie "Friday Night Lights". A great movie with an amazing soundtrack!!
Insyderz is a very cool christian ska band. They play both praise songs and original songs.....and my uncle used to play bass for them before they were recording CD's
Tenacious D..........nuf said
Thanks PonyOne and Raskolnikov for the recomendations of bands. It'll sure make my music collection bigger and better.
