my epiphone has a buzz/fret buzz problem

i just broke a string on my epiphone and have noticed when i play something(i have not yet put a new string on) i get a strange buzz noice coming from my guitar is it because it is missing the string or does the guitar need the bridge lowered or raised(it has a tune o matic bridge)

I have nether had a problem yet with this and have nether noticed this buzzing noice. Im taking it to the music shop to get restrung and so they can have a look at it :confused:
