I'm picking up the axe again after a long , long break , and still looking to find me a new axe , since I've sold my tele and am now stuck with a terrible sounding squire .

But since there's too many choices , I would appreciate any suggestion on what axe to buy ( around $1200 ). Fav music is blues , not too clean of a sound . I'm kind of hoping one of you will lead me to that one axe I just have to own .

Plus , since I'm not that rich to buy a brand new amp along the way , I got offered a Marshall JTM60 , really cheap and hardly used ( 120$, from a friend of a friend of a friend ) . Good to start out with , or ..... ?

Thanks in advance !

Through that Marshall a SRV issue Strat might sound nice.

Sure thing, man. I haven't played it either, but SRV didn't have too complicated a setup. A lot of his tone came from that guitar.

yeah SRV had a pretty intense setup! As for the JTM60, I've played with a guy who had the 1x12 version, and it sounded wonderful! Actually, I can't remember if it was the JTM60 or the JCM600  , either way, it's a good amp for that price. As for guitar's, do you prefer single coils or humbuckers? Looks like you prefer single coils going on the guitars you listed. I would suggest looking in to G&L's.

I like Stevie's sound alot , but looking at the unput you guys gave me it's going to be a long way :D . It was not that I was after the exact sound anyway .

Actually , I liked my '72 tele and feel somewhat bad about selling it . . Thing is , I'd like a sharper edge to it . You're right about the singe coils , and as for the JTM60 , I've just tested it out with a LP just yet . Sounds great if you ask me , but it feels as if the LP is holding the amp back a bit bearing in mind the sound I'm after . I really want to hear it scream .

Will definetaly check out G&L , thanks for the input , well appreciated !

there are a lot of guitars in the price range you're looking at; we get more "what should i get for $400 or less??" threads here.

did you like your tele? what did you like/dislike, what would you change?

I've been saving up money  . It's not that I want to spend $1200 on just the guitar , some extra gear would be welcome as well .

My old tele was really nice sounding , twangy , but would like a sharper edge to it . The P90's you suggested , don't they have a somewhat clearer sound ? Will check it out , though . Choices , choices :D .

And thanks for the input all , I begin to like this site more and more . Will upgrade my account , I've been on other sites , but most of them are only about : " ah , you've got some nice stuf , but it's nothing compared to what I have , I OWN YOU , you don't know nothing !!....

Again , great site , thumbs up !
