You'd be better off shelling out the money for real lessons. No amount of tab or computer programs can replace a good teacher.

Nothing beats having an instructor;
but here are some sites that will help:

http://www.chordmelody.com

http://www.guitarforbeginners.com

http://www.wholenote.com

http://www.guitar.com

http://www.guitarsite.com

I return after 33 years.

If you can find a friend who is all ready taking,
Guitar lessons, that might help.
But i recommend a (Real live guitar Teacher).
1#When your first starting out your left hand fingers,
will not want to go where you want them to go.
2#Your also going to encounter problems with your,
Right hand picking, plus how to hold the Pick.
3# You will also need to know how to hold the guitar,
plus how to place your thumb on the neck plus fingers.
NOTE:Say you go ahead and learn all this stuff by your,
self then later on you want to learn it right.
Its very hard sometimes for even a good Guitar Teacher,
to teach old Dogs or try to break your bad habits.
A good guitar teacher can Spot your bad habits right away, then ajust them accordly.
