In quite a few Kenyan high schools, various foreign languages (mainly French and German, with some Spanish here and there) are taught. Some schools, like my almer mater (that's the correct term, right) have expatriate teachers, and others have "indigenous" kenyans who have learnt the languages. Now, those taught by ex pat teachers generally have better pronounciation and diction, owing to the obvious mother tongue influences. In fact, a German visiting from Germany could tell, by listening to us, that our teacher is from this or that place (they have accents in Germany too). I guess if you're taught English by an Brit, you'll likely develop a British accent. That accent will definately get corrupted if you go back home to Nigeria or Uzbekistan.
I bet that music being a language too, that's how it works with guitar.
