I am the gear/tone guy of the band. I do all the set-ups and things like that. However, my singer/guitarist has a '65 Deluxe Reverb and shes only been playing clean, until now where we introduced her to pedals, haha.

So her dad has a Jekyll and Hyde overdrive, but through the amp it sounds like...............DISCOOOOO ahhhhhhh. No, it sounds bad. So I put my Blues Driver in front of it, because I don't use it anymore, and it sounds OK, but it still doesn't sound good. I turned alot of the treble down, and put bass up and that cleaned it up some more. But it still sounds bad.

It's not good and punchy, like my Hot Rod Deluxe. And even when I use my tube screamer it sounds good, but on her amp...garbage...Any ideas?

I use an MXR ZW-44 overdrive and just love it. Yes it's the Zakk Wylde model, but don't let that be missleading. It's NOT a distortion pedal. It's simply a very nice overdrive pedal. I use it infront of my Classic 50 and in front of the dirty channel it can get absolutely crushing, and in front of the clean channel it can be buttery smooth to, punchy, to crunchy. The thing I like about it the most is how transparent it is. It really lets your guitar's tone shine through. I keep it set as follow's: Level: usually dimed, Gain: between 7-9 o'clock, and Tone: 12 o'clock. I'm not sure how it would work in front of a Fender, but it works very well in front of my Classic 50. It defanately takes a bit of tweaking to get the sound just right though. But hey, there's only 3 knobs  . So, if you do try it out, take your time with it, because it can do a lot of different tones.

Good luck!

We are still experimenting. We tried my Epi Les Paul through the blues driver and it was OK..but not at the point that we want it.

I'm a big muff fan. Maybe the amp, guitar, pedal settings are all cross ways.
I usually turn everything UP, then back off on each to find the sweet spot.

I don't usually recommend DigiTech gear, but I've been hearing good things about their Bad Monkey pedal. And it's only $40!
