Practicing classical music is REALLY good way to enhance your fingerpicking abilities.

Some songs I can name:
Fur Elise
Classical Gas
Greensleeves
Romanza
^ ^
all of them are pretty easy beginner peices and will drasically help your finger picking ability.

A lot of piano music transcribed to guitar tableture would be a good thing to look for. Finger picking rocks. Adds a whole new dimension to the guitar.

I like the spanish guitar work in Crossroads (1986). Some good stuff in there. Makes me want a classical, maybe someday...
