How about vocals/microphone with effects also, can that be hooked up to the amp at the same time, or is that a whole different ballgame.
wanna 'lectrify my soul
Boy, the more i read, the more confused I get. I just got a new hollow body electric and am completely a beginner with electric. Maybe someone could shed some light on the subject for me. What do i need to get? Amp? My basic interest has been 50's, 60's, surf, country, bluegrass, classical. But who knows,,,,once i figure out how to crank it up i might be converted to some harder rock. I know that an amp is for more than just making it loud, but thats about it. :D

yep,you need an amplifier and a instrument cable. Some older amps have lines in for mics I think, but its not common. For vocals, you might want to look into a small p.a system(public address system)...those are what you plug your mic into.
Go to a store and find an amp thats within the buget and is big enough for you. Most of all,get one that sounds nice...you can also look into some p.a equipment while there.Go in early and have someone help you with the ins and outs of music gear.
Good luck!
