The male vocals were done by me first. That was a really early recording so from what I can remember, I used a cheap aria mic through a behringer mixer, straight into the computer.
The female vocals were done by Ruth Cocherelle over the internet.
www.rootmusic.comShe downloaded the instrumental and we corresponded about what I was looking for. Then she sent a test MP3. I think she used an SM58 using Cubase SL.
Once we settled on a final vocal for her, she recorded 12 to 18 isolated vocal tracks at home, using her own equipment.
She did about 18 takes, and then sent them to me by mail on CDR.
When it arrived I took all 18 vocals and imported them into the song.
I go through and pick the best takes off each vocal and piece them together.
Then apply vocal processing like compression, reverb etc..
and mix it into the final song.
Actually, I kept a log during the making of those early songs so ya see for yourself..
