Help! what's it called?

Hi all,
I went to a FOzzy concert last week, and although it applies to many bands e.g. Pantera solo's and other metal bands, just thought i'd use the Fozzy boys as an example..
The guitarist kept pulling off these crazy sounds, not a pinch harmonic, more of a lower sounded, but a "whiirrrr" (in a kinda squeaky voice).. does anyone know what i mean..? i really want to learn how to do it.

ok.. would it be a "pinch-harmonic-vibrato" ???

* = pinch harmonic
m = palm mute
v = vibrato
^ = bend

How do you go about getting one of those babies pulled off in a lick?

any help would be awesome, i need to whip my friend at a guitar jam... he's grade 8 classical.. i am grade metal!

Well, I'm not familiar with that band.

Probably a pinch harmonic with some vibrato.

Remember, different places on the string give off different sounding pinch harmonics. There are a couple of different "sweet spots" for each note.

Keep that in mind.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.

The guitarist in Fozzy, Rich Ward, used to be in Stuck Mojo from Atlanta. Very cool guy, I got to hang out with him multiple times. I think he uses a whammy pedal along with an artificial (pinch) harmonic to get that sound.....If you've never heard Stuck Mojo, which of course broke up, which sucks, then get one of their c.d.'s....they rock.

i think Mike Romeo from Symphony X uses them a lot... of sins and shadows there are a few
