Hey, i have a POD XT live, and want to record some of my stuff through the pod onto my computer. I was wondering whether i needed software to record from or just use a midi cable plugged into the mike input of my computer, and record witht the windows sound recorder and edit sounds with audigy soundblaster. Thanks

Midi can be used to record with, but not with a POD XT. The pod is outputting either analogue or digital (S/PDIF) audio. Any midi hookups are for things like automated patch changes.

What you need to do is hook up a line out from your Pod to the line in (not mic in) of your computer and then use whatever audio software you have to record with. You may have to get an adapter or two from radio-shack and these are normally 1/4" jacks to 1/8" jacks or 2x1/4" jacks going into a stereo (TRS) 1/8" jack.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

You can use the USB connector as well. You will need some kind of software...Something like cubase sx(just under a $100) or sonar.
Try once,fail twice...

Quartz Studio Free

Easy four track recording on your comp. Don't need a huge fast comp to use it. Works just like a simple 4track tape/hd recorder. Oh yea, it's FREE!!!!

if you don't have a fast computer, good up to date usb connector, and a fast hard drive, then the PODxt's usb can freeze things up. At least it freezes my computer up. I normally just use the 1/4" outputs of the PODxt into the line in on my soundcard.
