Hes not a super lead guitarist indeed. On the other hand the songs that he writes are insane.

I think so.
I don't think leads have ever been his primary focus but having heard most of his material, I think he gets around the fretboard fairly well when he feels the need.
I wouldn't expect quite so much in the way of pure speed, but definately some quirky, interesting stuff. When I saw this thread, I thought of the solo from "We Die Young."

I thought that he and Iommi reunited into Black Sabbath again?

My opinion is that Cantrell is one of most underrated guitarists...
Wait and you will see that he can play awesome things, he is just not as spectacular as Zakk that s all

While I love Zakk Wylde, his soloing style gets very boring to me. Seems like he's just shredding the same crap over and over again as fast as he can. Grant it, it's not all like that, but the majority. Jerry on the other hand plays with more feeling, or soul if you will, and seems to have more originallity. I think this will be quite an interesting change to say the least.
BTW, where did this information come from?

I'm a big fan of both Zakk and Jerry.....Jerry Cantrell is kinda like the dude in Weezer, doesn't really shred, but can. I can't remember his name right now, but the guy in Weezer can shred like nobody's business.
Jerry is a great guitarist, and I'm looking forward to hearing him play for Ozzy...

Dude I like ozzy enough to listin to him but ive never bought his music. With cantrell as his guitarist I bet the music will sound evil as hell, and I just might buy it.

And he can play fast enough when he wants to,
even though i cant really understand how will he work with ozzy.
To me it sounds like putting kurt cobain in poison.
