Ok...some of us might doodle around and play a bit of this and a few chords from that,But,what are the 'gotta know' songs in a guitarists repertoire? Not the chorus or verse and various peices...but complete, full songs that every guitarist would benefit from knowing.

Alright...I'll simplify. What are the '20 MUST KNOW' songs?

I'm not gonna list 20, but for starters: Stairway to Heaven (of course!), Crazy Train, Master of Puppets, Smells like Teen Spirit...I guess those are the most obvious ones...

Can't forget Pink Floyd's bitw.

any song that's just a bit more complex and advanced than what you're currently capable of. I'm really not into learning songs (not to say that I don't learn some riffs here and there) I just learn what I want to know from the song and that's it. On guitar Mandatory Suicide is the only song I can play from start to finish and on bass the Super Mario Brothers theme is all I can do on that. I just never got into learning other peoples' music very intimately.

Highway to Hell, Hells Bells, Dirty Deeds, Big Balls, T.N.T., You Shook Me All Night Long, It's A Long Way to the Top.

Of course, there are plenty of others not AC/DC. SpeckledJim covered that pretty well.

What the ....?
Do you really think a song can be cursed?
I didnt read the whole thing yet, but it sounds very bizzare to me right now..

Anyways
Johnny B. Good
Sweet Home Alabama
Probably there are many others i cant think of right now
(it's not such a good idea to get up at 8:00 after a night full of alcohol and almost no sleep :( )

It is not I who am crazy.

OK, here we go:

I am sure you are familiar with the song Silent Night. It is a historic fact that it was able to stop fighting between the British and Germans during WW1. This is an example that a song can be "blessed". I with I could write a song like that.

Several years ago a song was presented to a jury to show the state of mind of a couple fellows. These guys were making plans to break their buddy out of a county jail, they wanted to make a "switharoo" -- get their buddy out and put the jailers in his cell. According to a witness, the day before their attempt these two fellows were driving around in their car listening to a particular song non-stop several dozen times. So when they actually went to do their thing, they shot and killed two jailers. Was it that particular song that made them do it? I do not know. Oh, and that song was calling for "mo murder". Is this an example of a "cursed" song?

As for me, I hope to do a little magic every time I grab my guitar. Isn't it what we all want to do?
