This weekend this guy let me play his guitar... I really couldn't tell you the exact model, but it was a gibson les paul, white, with gold hardware, and gold pickups. it was cool because the neck was white too, not the fingerboard, but the neck... but what confused me was that the headstock said epiphone on it and then somewhere else on the guitar said gibson, so it confused me... I know it was not a cheap epiphone copy though... this guy has the skills to back it up too, he soloed with his teeth, or tongue, I'm not sure because the guitar was in front of his face... but seriously... he was awesomely good, who else can make a blazing fast guitar solo during the song "amazing grace" sound good? anyways... he let me play it for about 10 minutes... I fell in love instantly, except the neck was a lot shorter than the ibanez I'm used to. but still. it probably also helped that I was playing through a real expensive amp too... I think the brand was roland, a half stack, a lot better than my 15 watt practice amp... lol. anyways just thought I'd share that with you, don't really know who really cares though...

An old friend of mine used to work as a luthier for Guild and he had a bunch of beautiful instruments that he had either bought and customized or built while he was there. 2 that he let me play were a mid 60's Guild Tele-style axe, and the coolest instrument which I will never afford was like a 68 Rickenbacker 12 string.

I'm working on making my Tele into a vintage instrument by beating teh hell out of it for as long as I can. ;)

Steve Vai. In fact, he did a cover of it.

They're made in Japan IIRC by Aria.

PonyOne, you rock. And, that is a pretty slick guitar, even for a Gibson/Epiphone.

wow... I'm pretty sure that that is the guitar that I played, it did have the same rectangle inlay, with a rectangle on the first fret, yeah I'm almost positive that is the guitar I played... here I was thinking it was one of those $3000+ gibsons... 1100 isn't too bad... and by the way the guitar is pretty awesome sounding!

Me too. The way my back hurts, I'd be in trouble.

not to question his skills or anything, but i highly doubt that your friend has the skill to rival vai, satriani, possibly, but i highly doubt vai, because vai seems to play most of the stuff that like no one can play, with quite a bit of ease.... however i would love to hear your friend play sounds like hes so @#*%ing awsome :)
