Can anyone help me get closer to acheiving the Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley tone? Can you give me tips on what gear Randy used to get this tone?

Thanks MXRm104

Well he used a Jackson and pretty sure Marshall amps. Know nothing about his actually effects though.

When I play crazy train here are my settings:

Gain- 8 to 10 depending on the amp
Teble-9
Midrange-3
Bass- 8
*slight and fast delay.
*add reverb to about 4 or 5 on solo

Dont know about Crowley though...

Can anyone tell me how to get Randy Rhoads' tone? Especially his Crazy Train tone. Can you tell me what gear I will need, or the settings on his amps and effects? I know he uses an MXR distortion +, but how can I get his tone?

Thanks, MXRm104

Whatever guitar you have, put either a duncan distortion or dimarzio super distortion.

Get a marshall jcm800 stack.

plug the distortion+ in the front of it and tweak away..
Try once,fail twice...

This is a great breakdown of the specific settings you need to dial in to get your guitar to souund like Crazy Train.

A great next step will be to check out the Randy Rhodes artist study on GT. This tutorial will go into detail about not only his settings and gear, but his licks and playing style too.

Be sure to check out other artist studies in the same vein as Ozzy.
