Ok....Favorite acoustic/classical piece(s) by a rock band?

Mine :
Babe I'm gonna leave you (Zeppelin)
Broon's Bane (Rush)
I used to have both of these done perfect (I don't play as much these days).

Babe I'm going to leave you is a good one, "Wish you were Here" by Pink Floyd is a good, but I don't know if you would consider it acoustic. "Life by the Drop" by Stevie Ray Vaughan. I can' think of anymore right now. And "Dee" by Randy Rhoads is about the only classical song by rock band that I know of. "Tears in Heaven" is a good acoustic song regardless if Clapton is blues or rock or what he is.

Well...while I have not heard everything SRV has done, including that song, I would find it hard to beleive that he had released anything but something that stirs the soul.
"Tears in Heaven", thats a great song. Eric is fantastic.
"Wish you were Here" I would not consider an acoustic piece, but that and "Pigs (Three different Ones)" are my all time favorite Floyd songs. Randy was incredible in pretty much every piece I have heard him play.

My favorite acoustic piece is "Little Martha" by Duane Allman off the Allman Bros. "Eat a Peach" album.

My favorite acoustic rock piece has got to be "Patience" by Guns N' Roses. The guitar parts are really different for a hard rock band, but it really showcases Slash's talent. Also, Slash did a song for a movie soundtrack. The song was called "Obsession"(be sure to listen to the solo guitar version), and it features beautiful classical guitar. Otherwise, I love "Tears In Heaven" by Clapton, and the already mentioned "Life By The Drop" by SRV.

Sloppy playing, and slipshod production don't fit on my list.

Most of you have probably never heard of a Canadian band called Triumph. Their lead guitarist, Ric Emmet, is an extremely versatile artist.

Check out The Minstrel. Its a three-part song starting out on classic guitar, moving to bronze-string acoustic, and ending with a blow-the-walls-down electric session.

With a world-wide membership to draw on, I won't be surprised to see a posting about something we haven't heard on this continent. There's a lot of great music out there!

Wooooooooooh, Code_monk,
I misunderstood you, are you saying SRV does not stir the soul? I hope not, he played and wrote with amazing emotion and passion.

Hell no...I would never say that about SRV.
What I basically meant by that was, If he someone told me
he released a song that was without any emotion and/or passion, I would not believe them (and probably give them a lead enema:)).

On my way into work this morning, Crossfire started playing on the radio (no CD player in my car :( ). I missed my turnoff :). When he died, I felt like I lost a brother (and I have, so I know what that feels like).

I have heard Triumph. I saw them in 1983 at a huge outdoor concert (it was called the US Festival) in Glen Helen, Calif.
Ric Emmet is very good (but not my favorite musical canadian )).
