Ok I play lead in my band, and we have a major problems, the thing is we cant get a bass line to go with the guitars. Has anyone got any tips for a basic riff.

Most of the time the bass just plays the same riff as rhythm, but after the first few songs it sucks,

Try synchronising the bass with the drums.....i got this advice from some big black funk player, so i guesse it has to work...hehe....naa i tried it with my band and it sounds pretty awsome....builds a stronger foundation for the song....and if you already do that..... then you probaby wasted a couple minutes of your life trying to read and understand my post

It'd help a whole bunch if you could post a recording.
Usually when I'm stuck for bass lines I give both 'rocking' and 'walking' bass lines a try. Also, just putting some simple scale runs will help a lot by leading you into the next chord.
Like I said tho.. hard to describe without sound.

I totally agree. The drums and bass are the ryhthm section, so they should be locked in together. The only thing the bass player needs to do in respect to the guitars is to play in key, or the music can get boring....

bass should match the bass drums more than guitars " besides notes and such, of course"
