I've been playing for about a year and a half now and I have come to a fork in the road. I want to get much better but I don't have any musical direction. I am interested in many different types of music. What kind of style do you guys suggest I dedicate my practicing in. Also, could you guys give me some song names to get started in a particular style. Thanks.

everybody has part of there musical life were they get stuck on a certain riff, maybe scale, or just tired of the same old thing.

Just keep going with it. Play what you love. Ummm. iI dont know many different songs that introduce stuff like that.

All musicians come to the fork in the road that you are standing in front of
now. Remember that no matter which fork you choose; you can tate a short
cut or backtrack to another fork. There is great info on this forum and by reading what other people have experienced could help you decide. However the choice is yours. Being able to make your own decisions (musically) Is one of the supreme freedoms we have. When life takes over with family, job
and all the rest; It is a blessing to be able to pick up your ax and take control even for a little while.
I chose the BLUES fork and thats what I play most of the time but if I want to play country, rock, jazz or just make noise. Its MY DECISION.

I don't think it is wise to say to yourself "I want to be this kind of musican" You really end up limiting yourself and disallow yourself to grow. I see forget about the fork in the road and just keep going straight. Look into the roads on your left and right and take in what you can and like. Learn from those you find and keep pushing onwards!
I can't help it. When I get an idea that excites me it's as if I can't breath unless I make it real.
