Hmm....I don't use a whole lotta verb. I do use some mono delay to get
some extra sustain, not an acho, but a sustain.

Anyway, my main problem is not knowing yet the entire spectrum of
the re-cording pallette. In other words, what instrument sits where
in the mix.

Below is an outtro to a tune I did called Fallen.

Same guitar settings...even have a rythym guitar with basically the
same tone as the lead. You can hear both distinctly.

There is one instrument missing...the drums. They are drowned in the
back, as you can barely hear the crash ride.

There is only a limited amount of space that you can put each
instrument and it's tone. Once you master the art of getting
a good to great balance EVERYTIME...then you are onto something.

Haven't got there yet myself....obviously...

Try POWER DVD or a real piece of software.
WMP, Realplayer, and those little things kill...recordings...muffle them..take away the stereo field.
