Hey wait a second...
That wasn't the original guy who posted the question...
and nobody said anything about a workstation. And then this last guy agrees with me and says to try changing the monitor settings...

I wanna know if changing the monitor settings fixes the problem.
I take back my 'damn' and still present my 'thhpppt' as the winning hand.

Since a little competition has begun, and since I've been swamped with work in a funk and jazz band, I've not had much time to work on music recording, but I promise you guys that a decision will come. By the way, I'd like to thank you guys very muchfor your help. Oh and by the way, Schmange, I visited one of your links and let me tell you, the techno-guitar work you do is very entertaining. I loved it, quite honestly, haha. Anyway, yes, I'll get back to this as soon as I am not boggled down by other things. Thanks again, Ciao.

schmange,
I can attest to the Doc knowing what he's talking about... he's done plenty of good recordings.... (oh,Simon.. checks in the mail right ? ...LOL) :D

To put this to bed (so to speak... tho' that is apparently not the correct phrase to use in the Jackson mansion LOL).. IT IS LATENCY...!!

if you need to prove it, go cut your input buffer size back to 512 or 256K and reduce the number to 2 or 4 and see what happens. Bingo... LATENCY !!
I've been fighting it for years too....

argh..and I've been working with Cubase since 1993 so I know a little about how the program works.
Technically, you can call it latency if you want.
I still think in this case that he's selected the wrong monitoring option and by just switching to the right one, he'd fix his problem.
Latency within Cubase is limited to VST instruments and not vocals because the program automatically adjusts the timing to compensate.

I'm still waiting to hear from the original guy... so until then .... I WIN!!!
So there
