I need lots of help!
hey ...ive had a fender for around 6 or 7 months now and i dont have any clue what im doing. i really wanna start learning cuz me and my friend wanna get a band started...im into all the punk music and ppl have tried showing me guitar but im just not getting it....wut can i do to actually learn to play atleast one song? :confused:

you gotta wanna play for yourself in order to be good. You cant really play because you "wanna" start a band and your the person out of your group of friends that was picked to play guitar. That doesnt work, believe me, because I've 'been there done that"
Mainly what you have to do when you first start, is learn actually what a guitar does. Then you['ll have to learn with chords, picking, strumming, etc.
But, this is the right place if you wanna learn, my friend.
there are tons of free lessons, tips, and tricks. And unlike other sites on the internet, this one has video and audio lessons. (but only if you are a high bandwidth subscriber)
But listen buddy. Learning to play guitar takes a degree of concentration and you gotta be patient. A good way to get off to a good start is find a guitarist that inspires you. Then imitate what he does. Dont go picking a experienced guitarist like John petrucci because trying to learn his guitar riffs at a begginner stage will only lead to frusteration, and you would pobubly give up. So pick somebody easy like "kurt Cobain" .
So dont get discouraged, do some of "guitar tricks" leasons.
And mainly have fun

If you want to start playing without to much effort. Tune your gitar to dropped d [very easy] you only play the top three strings with one finger so you dont have to know any real chords. This style of playing will teach you rhythm and basic musicianship. With this tuning you can play any punk song ever written and get you rockin right NOW.
