The first complete song I learnt was Parisienne Walkways by Gary Moore which mightnt count because I did most of it by imprevisation by ear. The firest riff I did was the intro to Stairway To Heaven and the first piece I learnt (or tried to) was Angi by Davy Graham.

I think the first song I ever learned was "Walk Like a Man." From practicing that one day I figured out "Enter Sandman." Pretty funny, eh?

It seems like everyone I know has started on one of these three Knocking On Heaven's Door-Gn'R-(my first) Every Rose has Its Thorn-Poison-cheesy, but if you are from the late 80's/early 90's, you know you played it Sunshine Of Your Love-Cream-timeless
while my friends were trying to figure out how to play basic chords (A, C, ...), I was trying to figure out the "Sweet Child o' mine" intro by Guns N Roses.
