what do I do now?
I've been playing the guitar for about 3 or 4 years. Everytime I pick up my guitar which is everyday I find myself playing the same things. I'm not sure exactly what else I should be doing or learning. Once in a while I'll learn something new from one of my friends but basically I keep playing the same stuff. I know power chords major and minor chords pentatonic scales major scales just recently been introduced to tapping. What else should I learn and what else should I do?

For starters, try learning to play stuff that you can't play. That'll force you to get better. So take what you can play now, and be able to play it PERFECTLY. Then move onto some more difficult songs. What kind of music do you play?

I like to play classic rock modern rock and some metal. I've been trying to learn some of the hard metallica solos but it's just not working

Try some easier metallica solos. The first one I learned was the beginning solo to "fade to black" and the middle one in master of puppets. Do you read tabs or try to play by ear?

I usually read tabs I can play the electric solo in nothing else matters and the middle one in master of puppets but just hearing kirk play like huge solos like the big one in ride the lightning or the 2nd solo in fade to black I wanna play it so bad but I look at it and just get lost
