A chord progression is pretty much the same thing as a scale. A progression can't be wrong. He just didn't like it. Music sounds different to different people.
Bass guitar is the answer to everything

Basically a chord progression is just a sequence of chords.

A progression can be wrong if you made the solo first and tried to fit some chords over it ... It's funny , but I know people who actually write their music like this !

And 4 chords seems like Nirvana's progression , in todays punk they only use 2 chords per song ! :p

Chord progressions are based from the Key of music your playing or writing in... Each key has basically 12 chords in it (altho I have seen where you can get as many as 15).

For example: If you were to write a song in the Key of G... the chords that are included in that key are G C D7 Em Am B7 G6 Gaug Gdim C6 Em6 and Am6

So a progression in that key could be: G C Am

Usually if you have a good ear you'll wind up writing your music with the progressions of a certain key without even knowing the therory because those chords just sound good together.
