My Les Paul has badly corroded pickup covers. I have google searched, rang the nearest dealer, but have not found solid advice about products or procedures to fix things.

Can anyone suggest a good product/s to clean them up & protect them. I live on the coast..ie Salt City and my sweat has unusually pheromonic properties...sorry..getting OT there. :) .

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Saga project soon to be recommenced.

You can always buy new ones. I don't know if you can buy official gibson pickup cover replacements, but you can get plain ones here.

Yeah, that would work, and that's probably what I'll do,but that brings us to the prevention part.

The covers suffered no trauma or scratching, so what could prevent new covers corroding after a similar time?

TIA.

Something like this, perhaps?

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page here when it says it dries 2-5 mils thick that's not 2-5 millimeters, it's 0.0308-0.1270 millimeters.

Thanks for the link. That looks the goods.

I'll see if it's available locally.

Thanks again.
