hey, does anyone know what kind of telecaster this is or how old it is? I know very little about teles.
any help would be greatly appreciated:)

This thread will probably be moved to the gear forum.

It's a sexy tele and it's probably older than either of my nephews. Other than that I don't know. I'm not much of a tele person myself.

check the serial number, then check on the internet for serial number listings and u will find your answer.

Hey, the serial number dates to a 1956 but it can't be that old.

Well that could be just the necks age if it has been replaced. If it was true u would have an expensive guitar on your hands.

you check under the pickguard to see if they marked a date on the body?

also, check on the neck itself...normally they'll stamp a date on the heel....that'll mean you unbolting the neck but that's not really that big of a deal.

There might also be a Fender dealer nearby who should be able to date the instrument. I'd date that Tele- it's HAWT! Very nice instrument you have there. Fender.com has a link on their site for determining the manufacture date of the instrument based on date. They also have a dealer locater which might help as well. Beautiful guitar though!
