I really want some pickups that can handle heavy metal like Black label scociety and Black sabbath sounds. but want to be able to bring it back for some Slach style tone. they anso neeed to SCREAM when i play solos PLEASE HELP ME. right now im lookin at either a 81 81 or 81 85 emg set. your opinion?

I have a epi les paul and It does not feedback, maybe try to reshape your amps settings and distortion levels .what gear are you using through the les paul? I know stock they come dipped in wax and all that to prevent feedback the only time I really had a problem with feedback was when I Used to own a Standard Stratocaster with stock pickups, man that was annoying  ..

I'm in the exact same situation =) Probably replacing the bridge pickup this week. Was thinking 81s myself. Not sure yet. I don't know about the technical aspects. I just want to friggen squeal.

Didn't really help you but that's what I might do at least.

Cheers

yah i use my epi through a marshall avt 20 and THAT THING IS LOUD ive dwarfed 100 whatt amps with this thing. i sometimes use a digitech gringe pedal which reduces the feedback but i have seen GREAT guitars with seymor duncans like a jackson dk2 but the sound im really looking for is a Children of Bodom sound. if u ve never heard theme LISTEN QUICK.

P.S. they only feedback when i use my 120 watt crate

I used to have an Epi LP that had a TERRIBLE feedback problem. I've since got rid of that guitar, but i use a Duncan Custom in the bridge of my Carvin and its a pretty versatile pickup.

The other guitar player in my band plays a Gibson SG...He had the squeal also, replaced the pickups with the Zakk Wylde EMG's, and the squal was still there, although the tone did get better. My Gibson SG has the squeal also, but only when I turn the distortion/overdrive up too much. Just try backing off the distortion a bit and cut the mids a bit.....
Check out my band:

Anyone who has hum, noise or squeal issues should look into a noise suppressor/gate...

Check out the Boss N-S2.Thats the only noise gate ive ever used(besides suppressors/gates on multi-fx boards.)
Try once,fail twice...
