I've been sliding since 1969, in standard tuning or dropped D -- I tried but abandoned open tunings -- and I've developed a 'behind the slide' technique ( example at http://www.thatllteachyou.com/glix ).

If anyone's interested in more lessons on the subject, there are a few loaded up at http://www.thatllteachyou.com/granted.html

Anyone care to discuss slide technique?

Kirk, I saw your site once before and was duly impressed with your style and technique.

I just started slidin on a cheap dobro copy. I like open A cause thats the key I sing in. Harp sounds good in that key also. I really like playin sliden blues
with that east Texas swampy vibe. I make up contemporary blues lyrics useing CNN as my insperation. My main gig is backing up another singer/songwriter/guitarist on Upright bass. Sometimes he lets me slide along
with him. The crowd digs it especially when we have a call and response with two harps.

Hy dude! Nice slide work, i really like it. I do some slid work myself, notnin" fancy bu a little. But anyhow, since you can really yam it with slide, I have this one question. Is there any difference between a glass slide and a metall sllide?
I figure you might know.

Hi KRUNO.

I have both ... glass is nice because it's so smooth, but the weight of the brass slide gives a much more sustained note. I do prefer brass.

Cheers,
