Lets take techno metal and rap, and mix it all into one style and see how it sounds. This must be an unoriginal idea. I'm going to have to say that linkin park is the only original sounding mainstream band since 311. Please name a good original sounding band right now. I'd love to hear them.

Breaking the Habit is a very complex song compared to most rock songs. Its not classical music man, but they definately know what they are doing. I read a quote that they worte 40 different choruses for one song until they found the right one. That sounds like effort to me.
