I was reading the other day on some other forum about the artist Michael Angelo Batio (www.angelo.com) and the styles of picking he uses, since I'm a huge fan. It also mentioned that he uses a special type of pick when he shreds. I forgot the name/brand of this pick. It is designed so when he picks a string once, it plays it twice.. Can someone help me?

I've seen those picks, but I don't think Batio doesn't use them (unless he switched recently). He uses black Dunlop Jazz 3’s.

Wow, watching those clips, I have to say I like this guy MUCH better than Yngwie. His slower ideas when he's not wankin around are pretty cool, actually!!!

Yeah, it's like two picks in one. I thought he uses this special pick because if you watch the "speed lives" video, he angles his hand differently when he shreds. I have attempted to do that with a normal pick, but with that angle, it's impossible to get a sound.
But Michael Angelo is a crazy guitarist overall. He invented the Quad Guitar and the Double Guitar. He's the only guitarist that has mastered playing the Double Guitar; playing both necks at once (ambidextrous).

You mean when he's sweeping?

This is what he uses, if its pointedness helps-

No, not when he's sweeping. When he picks the strings individually really fast.

I don't know if he uses it or not, but I the other day I was at a website for this special pick. I forgot the website and I've been googling all over for it and now I can't find it.

I found it! http://www.jimdunlop.com/products/picks/products/specialty/index.html
Scroll down, it's the stylus pick.
This is the pick I was looking for, however it doesnt play twice with one pick. I got 2 different picks mixed up. My friend has one that plays the string twice with one pick. Oops.

I think Batio is just a master at tremelo picking

Hes position is when hes goin up and down the scales rite? and his hand is like at a 90 degree angle with the strings? if so, then its not the pick, its the style. Steve Vai uses to same thing too.

Yeah, but I tried to do that with a normal pick, and it is impossible to get a sound.

I used to practice alternate picking with a special pick that was hard plastic and had a little round ball at the end that came to a point (shaped like a diamond). If you dove in too deep, it would hang up on the string, teaching you to use a "shallow" attack. I can't remember the name or who made it, but it helped.

Michael is equally impressive when he uses his left hand over the top of the neck. This can help you build strength in your pinky finger and overall coordination. Bends are really tough however!
I once thought a "Sweeping Arpeggio" was an Italian janitor.
