Hello there  . I just recently got a Fender FM212R, and i'm having problems with the sound randomly cutting out. I just recently took it over to a friends house, and we jammed in the garage to hear my amp randomly Cut out. It would cut out for a period of time, then work fine. I tried Different cables. I also use an effects peddle with my amp, since it doesn't give me my ditsortion i crave, a Digitec RP200. I tried to go from amp to guitar, and thought it was my pedal, but still no luck. I'm also curious... Our drummer plays some heavy stuff, and was curious if maybe that messed up something in the amp. I don't know much about amps :( . Any Help would be greatly appreciated. :p

First up check that it is the amp.

Sequentially swap out:
1) the guitar (i.e. with the same cables try a different axe)
2) all the cables with ones that you know work

Dose the power light on the amp stay lit up after it cuts out ?
What does it sound like, is their a fading out or a crackle and then ... nothing ?
or a reduction in volume and then nothing or just nothing ?

Heh, i tried an old Cort i had lying around with the same effect. I did try swapping cables, but only between the 4-5 i've had.
In Detail:
I'd be playing for usually around 30 seconds, and it'd make a click sound and lose all sound. The power light stayed on, and i turned volume down on guitar... Waited 3-4 seconds and turned it up and it worked again.

Does it keep on doing this in a cycle ? Im wondering if their is a thermal fuse or something that is tripping or a joint getting too hot and shorting or similar !

It was quite random... When i first turned it on, i played it for about 3 minutes before the first occurence... Then it did its crackle thing and stopped. Than after the next 30 seconds, did it again... Waited another minute or so and it repeated itself... It seemed to be random, is what im getting at :P

Check your speaker connection. If that opens up, it can damage a tube amp output transformer. Obviously, I don't know which type of amp yours is. A transistor amp won't have the same problem with this; it's just annoying.
