I think anyone who is seriously into recording will use a computer as they are much more powerful and flexible.

However if you are new to recording, need portability and are happy with the functions that you get for your dollar Id go with a D1600.

The D1600 is supposed to sound better than the Rollands as they don't use lossy compression to write to the disk. Wether this is true or not remains to be seen.
