Yeah we all play guitar here...but i wanna write songs 2 juss to get sumthin goin. I really enjoy the songwriting in classic rock. To get an idea of what style of music im really talkin bout....music that can be found in the film 'almost famous' that kind lol. I seem to be missing sumthin..i can get into the music but when i try to write songs later i can...lol help me out guys thnx

Not to burst your bubble, haha, but if we could write songs like "Tiny Dancer," we wouldn't be hanging around in the songwriting section of guitartricks.

you probably wanna check out all your open chords, chord scales, and cadences. thats a basic approach to songwriting. i thing the easiest was is to just mess around with chords and riffs for a while when your play (maybe record yourself messin around) and eventually you'll hear something you like. take that and work off of it. a standard song goes something like intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. try that out
