I just want to know what is a metal slide. I have read that jimmy page uses that technique. can anyone give some example about it. i have search for that on the net but found no result. thanks

Back to the real topic , since you mentioned page , he used this technique on parts of "you shook me" and "Dancing Days" ... Probably he used it in other songs too, but those are the only two I could think of now.
If you need more examples , Pink Floyd "High Hopes" outro solo.

Almost forgot to say , in case you didn't find a slide in a nearby store , you can temporarily use something like a smooth glass bottle , or a beer can.

HY! IN CASE IT HELPS YOU, CHRIS REA PLAYS A LOT OF HIS STUFF WITH SLIDE.
FIRST PICTURE IS THE ACTUAL STUFF. IT ISN"T HARD TO PLAY, YUST TAKES A SENSITIVE HAND.

My slide version of Misty is currently number 2 at Soundclick's Jazz chart ... and I don't really ever play jazz!

I use a heavy brass slide. Good heft gives good, solid note, but you must use heavy strings. I use 16-18-24-34-44-54 ... I tune my bass string down to D, that's it.

Sly man, have you seen the Pulse tour live at earls Court in 1994. I have that on video, Pink Floyd are amazing...especailly how well the play High Hopes(a personal favourite).
Just thought I`d let you know.
p.s. does anyone know wether ther pulse show is available on dvd, I can only find the video.

Yeah dude , it's one of the best concert videos ever ... I love most of the songs , but my personal fav is "Comfortably Numb" .
There were rumors about a DVD release a while back , I donno if it has been done yet.

but the best slide player ever is without a doubt Derek Trucks, check him out if you wanna get good at slide
