leo kottke-easter

hi. i have a question about the song easter by leo kottke.there is a really cool sounding part where leo plays harmonics and then has kind of an echo behind it. if you have heard it you know what im talking about. the tab i got says he bends on that part but i have also heard that leo uses the tuning pegs to get the effect. what do you use?
