I recommend the DiMarzio Tone Zone. I have an identical pair of Yamaha SGB1000 guitars (what the Les Paul double-cutaway would be if Gibson had their **** together). One has a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge position, and the other one has a DiMarzio Dual Sound (a 4-wire Super Distortion).

The Super Distortion is the sound you hear on just about anything recorded in the 70's. The 4-wire Dual Sound allows parallel connection of the coils for a hot single coil sound.

The Tone Zone has about the same output level, but the harmonics jump out more. When you're playing clean, this means that your sound cuts through the mix without overpowering the other players. Cranked, you get some delicious overtones on sustained notes, and changes in pick attack produce noticeably different kinds of grind. I think the word "expressive" suits it well.
