headphones

hey everyone
my rents have gotten sick of my amp blasting and they bought a pair of headphones, wire so i can still jump around
but as soon as i plug in the sound looses all of its texter
its quiet even if i make it louder it just becomes more muffled and its ok for no distortion on but i mean i need the headphones when the distortions on haha so thats the dilema
the amp i am using is a Marshall MG series pretty hot but its only 15 watts
loud at hell thou :D
so thats my problem
any suggestions on how to play my amp loudly with distortion and not loose much of the quality and texture of the sound? would studio headphones help?

Valvetronix are great amps for that situation.

Your headphones aren't the problem, the fact that you are bypassing your amp's speaker is(which is an integral part in the shaping of your sound).

As you've noticed is isn't that big a problem when playing with a clean sound, but when using distortion a lot of annoying high end does not get filtered out by the speaker...

Ideally what you should get is an amp simulator such a the Behringer V-amp, Line6 pod or Korg Pandora's box. These devises are specifically designed to be played through, for example, headphones.

try the hughs and kettner zen terra 2/12 badass but pricey great low volume
liquid distortion :D
