what up? i am new to this site, but have played for a while. i have a couple of questions. first, i am looking to retube my peavey classic, and have not found tubes that have the sound i am looking for, i play jamband experimental type guitar, any suggestions? second, i would like to add some pedals to my setup, but their are so many i can't begin to try them all. as of now i have a Boss DD-3, Boss phase shifter, and ross distortion. I am looking for compression, possibly more overdrive, chorus for now. I have played all boss pedals, and am looking for something more unique in my sound. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a classic 50 2x12 that I retubed with JJ tubes frome www.eurotubes.com . They work great for me. As far as effects go, I use a boss CH-1 Chorus, and DD-3 delay. The CH-1 isn't all that versatile, but it does exactly what I want. I also use an MXR ZW-44 overdrive pedal that is awsome! In front of a clean channel, it gives a great transparent bluesy overdrive, and in front of an already dirty amp, it can get very brutal. I like it because it doesn't cover up the tone of your guitar or amp, it just adds to them.

Apparently Groove Tubes are overhyped and don't live up to their claims.

Some others will surely weigh in on this also.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

www.eurotubes.com

Everyone on this site that has tried them loves them. I recently retubed my Traynor YCV40 with eurotubes, and, while I wouldn't say that my amp sounds 100% different, it does sound much better (i.e. cleaner seems less piercing, and the dirty channel has more bite and sounds a bit fatter and tighter).

Do a forum search on "eurotubes" and you'll have some good readin, I'm sure.

My buddy used to get his tubes from www.thetubestore.com

I don't know much about whats a good deal when it comes to tubes, but they do review the tubes they sell on the site. A brief synopsis for each tube with a rating for noise, sound detail, and harmonics. They seem very fond of Electro Harmonics tubes on the site...
