Yeah, I carry around a little 1" piece of Wet and Dry in my wallet to keep them in good nick. I guess I could use an emery board, but somehow, that black square of sandpaper allows me to retain some of my masculine pride while "doing my nails".

I've heard of some guys who have to use nail-varnish to reinforce weak nails. I don't know, if that were me, I think I'd take up Piano :-)

I usually try to keep my nails in the range that allows the nail to contact the string, but not so long that it's all nail and no fingertip (which makes a harsher sound, more like a harpsichord pick, if you know what I mean).

Besides, if they get too long you end up breaking them and looking like even more of a sissy when you say "DAMN! I broke a NAIL!! :-)
