Strumming
I was wondering what is the correct way to strum? My friend saw me play the guitar and he said that the correct way to strum is to strum all strings and then strum the 3 treble strings. I was wondering, is it correct? Anyway, could somebody pls answer this and maybe write about the basics in strumming

No they are wrong.
SOme chords like an E are fine to strum any way you want, others like A require that you only strum the top 5 strings (i.e. missing the low, thick E string) or a D requires you to only strum the top 4 strings missing the low E and A strings.
As far as the pattern is concerned well that is dictated by the song.

any good advice on switching chords faster? should i remain my finger the same place when switching a chord with 1~2 similar string pressings? or should i release all my fingers and press all together when i want to switch to that chord? i know what i said is quite confusing but basically im trying to ask is what is the proper way to switch from chord to chord?

It just takes time and a lot of practice to switch chords cleanly , I learnt three or four chords to start with , then I learnt to switch between two of them , then three and so on, and then I started to rotate the chords I was using. Now I can switch from chord to chord.

One good thing to do when learning to switch chord shapes is... once you have the correct shaped chord fingering in place (the 1st one) think about the next chord shape. ie: dont wait until its time to change chords to begin thinking about it.
Music rules, beer rules. Music about beer cannot be topped.

When I started playing I was worried about this. I practiced and practiced but I was still slow at chord switching. One day I just woke up and started playing and it all kinda clicked and I could switch fast. Its just one of those things that youll get with practice.
