What you notice the most in this song is the 12-string with a capo on 7th fret, but there are many guitar parts in this song. I used to play it with my highschool band and we aproximated the guitar parts to to get a full sound and not mess with the capo. If you do it with a capo, one guitar might sound too thin, so I'd say loose the capo, for thin sound play around 7th fret, and for fuller sound and more accent on rythm play around 2nd fret.
Look for a tab for the picking pattern, there must be millions of them on the net. If it doesn't sound right get another tab.
P.S. One of my favorite songs AND solos of all time.

The only problem is the harmonized part at the end. You can play either of two guitar parts, and it will sound quite satisfactory to most of the audience.
I sometimes switch pickups for changing between the two guitarists. The rest is details and that's what makes the original what it is.

I'd say they are simmilarly difficult, but Stairway is easier to memorize. If that kind of solos is what you like I suggest learning "Another Brick in the Wall", "Moonlight Shadow", "November Rain" and alike. They are not hard, but differ in style and phrasing and are loaded with nice licks. As you advance, you might want to try Satriani's "Always with me,...". It's a nice, emotional piece and most of the hard work is done by the left hand, so it requires less coordinating. Take your time and enjoy your playing.

This is the tab that I use when I play the solo (not that I perform it, just jamming it out). The outro bit has the two guitars transcribed for one; you hold one note while doing the three note run down.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
