Secondly, usually the chorus is supposed to contrast with the verse, so I'd try every way you can think of to get that contrast. If the melody is sort of low in the verse, take it higher for the chorus, or vive versa. If the verse jumps up and down a lot, make the chorus use only a few notes. If the verse is kind of staccato, try something using a few words held for longer (legato). Try starting the chorus on a different chord from the verse. There's all sort of things you can try.
