Is there a way to completely bypass the amp models and just use the effects on a Pod Pro (the original one)? Without it coloring the tone of my Marshall....

Set the amp model button to Tube pre, turn the drive down and the Chanel volume up and the output up and zero the EQ (keep em about 12 O clock and go from there !).

Thanks Doc. I just got your response today and haven't tried that yet, but, something popped in my mind. Since I'm connecting the output of the Pod to the return of my effects loop, will bypassing the Marshall pre-amp change the sound?? Or should I connect the Pod to the Marshall's input to use it this way?

And if I connect the Pod to the Marshall's input, will that be like using 2 pre-amps? Or does turning the gain all the way down on the tube pre-amp setting make it a line level signal?

2 preamps is usually a bad idea unless you are looking to very very overdriven stuff. This is because one of the most desirable qualities of a pre amp is transparency, ie no self noise / coloration of the sound.

However, in this case you may be able to get away with it by keeping the signal strength coming out of the POD pre right down and feeding it into the input of your Marshal. Id start off with the Output, channel volume and drive knobs at zero. Then slowly turn up firs your channel volume than your output and finally your drive (you many not want to touch your drive knob) until you get enough signal.

Thanks Dr....Your my savior when it comes to helping me with my Pod. Damn technology...ha. I'll give that a try tonight and I'll let you know what happens. I'll probably run into another problem as usual.

Your welcome !

You should be OK as long as you don't have too much juice coming out of the POD !

Remember to tweak your effects levels / parameters also ! I think their are two buttons on the front of the pod one for altering speed/tone pitch etc and one for effect level.
