I don't really know anything about acoustics except that i wont one. it'll be a while b4 i can buy one, unless i get it for christmas. but in either case, it'd need to be like under or around $300 (probly used; if so, in good condition)

whats the best sounding thing i can get for such a price?

I have a yamaha that was $200 and it is pretty good but for you I think so far I really like Ibanez acoustics. Thats just my opinion but I've played some of my friends and the ones I play play really well. Though I don't know an exact model.

go down to your guitar shop an try all the acoustics you can afford/have time to check and see which one has the best sound and which plays well! thats my advice, the name can mean little at this price in my opinion as they very so much even in the same models. and i would seriously consider a second hand guitar as they can be cheaper and better than a brand spankin new one!

I really like the Epiphone acoustics, my friend has one that he payed $450-500 for and i really like it. and i've also seen a couple of alverez's and i only hear good things about those, those i've seen for $400 new at the lowest. The cheaper acoustics i have played have all been completely crap to be honest. my brother has a $240 ovation, and it sucks major ass. it's rediculously hard to play. so if i wanted something nice for around $300 can i still buy new or would i really need to get something used?
