Ok, I'm in a band with 2 ppl in 7 grade and we really suck, but I also have a band with some 9 graders and an 8 grader and we actually sound good, but the lead singer kind of wants to play strictly punk music and says he cant sing other t ypes of music. Im sure if he just tried to sing some different ways he could, I suggested some sum41 but he said he doesnt really want to play that either. I like punk, but not as much as I do classic rock and stuff. zI really like this band and get along with the people in it but I want to pl;ay at least some other music. I don't want to quit or be kicked out of the band though. And so metimes I can tell when there's a problem with our playing and I try to say it but the lead singer says its fine and kind of ignores what I'm saying, at which point I just kind of shutup and play. I want to tell him this stuff but i don't want to get in a fight and quit the band.

Sounds like youre halfway to having a VH1 Behind the Music made about you ;) . You can always quit without getting in a fight. If you think that there's problems with the way the music is being played and the other guys don't wanna hear about it from you, then maybe you should find some people who are more open-minded to play with. Nothing's worse than bandmates who get in the way of the creative process.

I was in a band with 2 sophomores and another junior... they only wanted to play metal cover songs. We were halfway good after just a few weeks of practicing together, but it was dumb... they never wrote any songs. I quit and stuck with the band who actually wanted to write music. I can spend a lot more time now with the band, which might not be as good but atleast we have our own style reflected from our music.

I think it'll be fine. I've written a song that we play and I'm just gonna talk to the singer. If things get bad then I'm gonna quit, But thanks for the help.

If playing with them is fun , but you still want to go for a wider range of music , don't leave them ,and wait till you find a better band.
