Sweeping Touble

I can sweep 4 and 3 strings sweeps pretty well now but i always have trouble with sweeps that hit the same fret on a different string, like should i bar it and then have the ring or just try to get used to bringing my finger down really fast?

you use a technique called finger rolling, you bar it like you said but dont let them ring out. its hard to explain here. check out finger rolling in a search engine or something. definately dont let them ring out. that way you might as well be strumming

I've been having a similar issue that I've been working to fix as of late. I can relay how my progress has come and how I've observed what I do in comparison to what I do, but I don't have a full fledged answer. Here goes. I start off by sweeping normally (by that I mean I don't start with any barred frets), I hit the first note with my index finger then the next note with my middle/ring finger and either roll to the next string or use my other available finger (whicher is convenient) and after that I move my index finger over to where it's needed and barre the remaining strings that need it. I've found this helps with keeping other notes from sounding when you don't want them to as well and keeps a natural sweeping flow (at least it does for me). Let me know if I made no sense. Good luck, oh yeah, I'm sure you've heard this a million times by now, but take your time and keep it calm.
