i want to play songs but i dont know how to make certain sounds.. cuz im not to smart ... so can anyone help me by telling me what i need to play each one of the following things. thanks

Metallica-Sanitarium (solo) what I need to play it
Metallica-Fade To Black (solo) what I need to play it
Metallica-Master of puppets (solo)what I need to play it
Metallica-One (solo) what I need to play it
Slipknot-Duality ;what I need to play it

Uhh... well a guitar and amp would be good for starters. :P

Which specific parts of the solo? I mean obviously for the solos you're going to need distortion, with the exception of One and even the end solo from One needs distortion. It would also help to know which solos you're talking about, since each of those songs (except Slipknot) has more than one solo in it!

Fade to Black intro solo and interlude sounds best played on neck pickups, the end solo sounds better with bridge.
Master of puppets interlude solo is best with neck and second with bridge.
Sanitarium's first two solos sound best using (assuming your guitar has 2 humbuckers) using both pickups, and the third with the bridge pickup.
One's first two solos are played without distortion and sound best (for me) on either neck or both pickups, and the last solo and dual guitar solo with bridge pickup.

These are the settings that work best for me and my style of play. I'm sure others will bring other suggestions.
