MM Axis vs. PV Wolfgang
I've heard nothing but good things about both of these axes but theres nowhere around me that carries either one. The Axis is less expensive and from what i hear, the neck is better suited for small handed players (me). But the Wolfgang is so much nicer looking i think especially with the carved top. The Wolfgang neck is wider and thinner i believe. Anybody have experience with these guitars?

I've got the EVH model.. I haven't played a guitar I like better, very suited for small hands, which I have also. Anyway, I've tried the Peavey Wolfgang, but I personally didn't like it. Seemed too bulky, but, then again the EVH (Axis now) is a small guitar, so most guitars seem bulky to me now. I myself would take a Axis over a Wolfgang anyday. Remember though, this is just my opinion.
Never buy a guitar because of it's looks.....you'll regret it in the long run.

i would never make a decision solely based on looks, but I've been reading the reviews on harmony central and i keep seeing people saying that the maple tops on the axis can be hit or miss...

What do you mean by hit or miss??? That some of the tops on the Axis looks better than others? Or the sound of them?

Yes, i mean by look. All i know for sure is that for $1300+ for a new one, the top better look damn nice.

The fact that you're asking us which one is better shows that you aren't sure. The only way to really clear that up is to try out the actual guitar you want to buy. You don't want to part with that much coin for an unknown axe, based on other people's opinions.[/font]

There seems to be a little misunderstanding here. First of all, this potential purchase is months away. I only wanted some opinions on theses guitars until i get a chance to sit down with one. Here in AZ, the only store that carries MusicMan stuff is Guitar Center (and i hate guitar center) and they rarely have MM guitars, usually just basses. I would never drop so much money on a guitar just based on peoples opinions, but until December, i don't think I'll be able to sit down with one. I'm just trying to do as much research as possible in the meantime...

Well, when it comes to maple tops, or any wood top for that matter, no 2 are alike, so there are going to be some that are nicer than others. Like Lordathestrings said, you'll just have to try them out and look for one that has a nice top on it.
