Hey everyone,
The other day I bought an analog 4 track (a Tascam 424 MKIII Portastudio). It's awesome and I'm loving it so far, but I want to be able to burn cd's as well as making tapes. I know it is possible because some local bands I know have done it, but I can't yet figure out how to connect the two RCA outputs into my computer. I want to try to connect the output to the mic input and then record on the computer while I playback the tape. Get what I mean? Does anyone have suggestions about how I could go about doing this? I REALLY need some help.

Get yourself a cable with two RCA connections on one side, and a mini stereo-jack on the other side, any electronics shop should have it.
Probably not a good idea to record that way using the mic input, at least not without a pre-amp.
Recording while using the computers' line-in would be a better choice.
I suggest getting Goldwave to record it onto your computer, search download.com for that program. I've used it before to do just that what you're planning on using it for, did a great job for me.

One tip, make some short test recordings in the beginning, so you can adjust the volume of your recording, so its not too low, and not clipping either. Compare the volume with some professional mp3's while you're doing that.

Hey thanks for the advice. After I get a Y cable I'll give that a try and let you know how it works. :)
